We welcome the return of Ken Ginsburg, MD, Madeline Levine, Ph.D., and Denise Pope, Ph.D. for the first regional conference plenary outside of the Bay Area for Challenge Success, a research-based organization that grew out of the Stressed-Out Students (SOS) Project at Stanford University.

Challenge Success (CS) offers curricula, conferences, and other programs that present alternatives to the established notions of success in schools and families. With a focus on youth well-being, school reform, and scholarly research, CS has established itself as a significant force in the education sphere. CS chose the New Trier Township area as their first off-site locale, and worked with nearly a dozen school teams consisting of school administrators, school counselors, parents, and students on the two-day conference.

Dr. Ginsburg will keynote the evening plenary. He is a pediatrician specializing in adolescent medicine at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and professor of pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Ginsburg also serves as director of health services at Covenant House Pennsylvania, an agency that serves Philadelphia’s homeless and marginalized youth. He is the author of Building Resilience in Children and Teens: Giving Kids Roots and Wings and Letting Go with Love and Confidence: Raising Responsible, Resilient, Self-Sufficient Teens in the 21st Century.

Joining Ginsburg on stage after his keynote will be CS co-founders Denise Pope, Ph.D., Stanford University senior lecturer and author of Doing School, and Madeline Levine, Ph.D., clinical psychologist and New York Times best-selling author of The Price of Privilege and Teach Your Children Well. Pope and Levine will lead an interactive discussion about the meaning of success and how families and educators can help youth thrive in the fast-paced world in which we live.
