Long regarded as a pioneer in the field of resiliency, Robert Brooks, Ph.D. was one of the first clinical researchers to identify the key features of those individuals who successfully cope with adversity. The author or co-author of 15 books on the topics of motivation, resilience, family relationships, leadership, and life balance, Dr. Brooks has lectured nationally and internationally, with a focus on a strengths-based nurturance model and the importance of “charismatic adults” in a child’s life.
Dr. Brooks’ bestsellers include Raising Resilient Children; Raising a Self-Disciplined Child; The Self-Esteem Teacher; and The Power of Resilience: Achieving Balance, Confidence, and Personal Strength in Your Life. He received his doctorate in clinical psychology from Clark University, and is on the faculty of Harvard Medical School and has served director of the department of psychology at McLean Hospital, a private psychiatric hospital.
