LeViis Haney, Ed.D.

LeViis A. Haney, Ed.D. is the Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, IL. He also teaches principal preparation courses as an adjunct professor at Northeastern Illinois University and Loyola University Chicago, and is a facilitator for the Kaleidoscope Group, a DEI firm based in Chicago.

Dr. Haney sits on several boards, including the Loyola University Chicago School of Education, and the Northeastern Illinois University Daniel L. Goodwin College of Education’s Field Experience Advisory Boards.  He has participated on numerous panels and has delivered presentations on personalized learning, designing schools for equity, and topics related to equity, diversity, and inclusion across the country.

Dr. Haney has extensive experience in designing schools for equity throughout his career with the implementation of personalized instructional models with an emphasis on culturally responsive instruction and restorative practices. As a result of his work, schools in his charge have seen incredible gains in reading and math metrics while also experiencing a decrease in suspension and disciplinary infractions. The personalized model implemented at Joseph Lovett Elementary in Chicago, where he served as principal, has been recognized in many educational publications.

Dr. Haney has over 23 years of experience in education, including 19 years as a school leader. He started his career as a classroom teacher and athletic coach at the middle and high school levels and would go on to serve as an athletic director, dean of students, elementary school assistant principal and K-12 principal. He has most recently served as principal at The Joseph Sears School in Kenilworth, Illinois, and Rich Central High School in Olympia Fields, Illinois.

Dr. Haney graduated from Archbishop Joseph Weber High School and Northeastern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in history and Secondary Education with a middle school endorsement, and a master’s degree in educational administration and supervision. He later completed a doctorate degree from Loyola University Chicago in school administration and supervision.
