Mindfulness and Self-Compassion Tools for Your Mental Health

Community Event

The Glenbard Parent Series: (GPS) Navigating Healthy Families will present Mindfulness and Self-Compassion Tools for Your Mental Health with Michael Maslar, Psy.D. at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5. Use this link to log in to this webinar from your computer, tablet or phone: https://glenbard.zoom.us/j/85974473076.

What people focus on, think about, and repeatedly do can change the structure of their brain. Mindfulness is a way to self-direct brain development. In these challenging times, teens and adults may be feeling overwhelmed and filled with self-doubt. Maslar will help people cultivate new patterns of thought to enhance resilience and self-worth, build emotional strength and achieve their best potential.

Attendees will learn the basics of the mindful brain and have the opportunity to experience simple techniques for mind-body wellness. When adults tap into this awareness, they can become kinder, more patient parents and guardians who enjoy healthier and more trusting relationships with loved ones and themselves.

Dr. Maslar is the director of Mindfulness and Behavior Therapies Program and Mindfulness and Skills-Based Organizational Services at The Family Institute at Northwestern University.

GPS is generously sponsored by the Cebrin Goodman Center, Community Consolidated School District 93 Birth to 5 Community Coalition, Cooperative Association for Special Education (CASE), College of DuPage, DuPage Medical Group, Emmy Gaffey Foundation, Glenbard Early Childhood Collaborative, Holiday Inn/Carol Stream, Kiwanis Clubs of District 9, and Prevention Leadership Team of the DuPage County Health Department.
