Tom Flemma, Ph.D.

Tom Flemma, Ph.D. is the Head of School at North Shore Country Day School in Winnetka, Illinois. An historian by training, Tom has worked in schools his entire career, after earning his BA at Stanford and MA and Ph.D. at the University of Virginia. For seventeen years he worked at the Hotchkiss School in Connecticut, where he taught American history, coached, lived in the dormitory, and served as Associate Head of School. In 2016 he moved to Winnetka to become the 9th Head of School at NSCDS, a JK-12 school that just celebrated its centennial. As a school leader currently navigating the uncertainty of a Covid world, Tom is particularly interested in Professor Koehn’s wisdom. He lives in Winnetka with his wife Diana, a mental health counselor and FAN Board member, and children Bella and Max.
