Awakening Possibilities: Cultural Healing for Clinicians of Color
3 CEUS
https://womencarecounseling.com/event/gathering-for-therapists-of-color-2/
Even the most well-intended cultural competence workshops can marginalize the experience of clinicians of color. The consequences are further experiences of microaggression and racism. This workshop aspires to be experienced differently.
Alissa Catiis, LCSW and Rosey Puloka, LCPC, R-DMT are both therapists and yoga teachers of color. Join them as they create space to identify the unique challenges of our work, share stories and wisdom, and center ritual healing practices of BIPOC* clinicians.
In collaboration together with participants, they will explore how moving our bodies, centering our stories, and taking holistic care of ourselves can help us move towards collective liberation.
Objectives:
To name collectively the unique challenges of being a clinician of color in the mental health and social services fields.
To identify collectively some ways to manage these unique challenges.
To discuss ideas on how to overcome colonial mentality in order to decolonize trauma work
